Tasweer

Released: 1997. Finally it's over after 26 terrible episodes!! Written by the favorite Bajia, based on a novel by A.R. Khatoon, and produced by Iqbal Latif. Starring Adnan Jilani, Tanveer Jamal, Rabia Noreen, Qaiser Khan, Zara Akbar and others. It's a common story of leftmenu people getting divorced and the children separating. Bajia prolonged the story for some reason..maybe trying to make it into a semi-Jaal? The story is straight forward and it gets to be quite boring after the first ten episodes because the end is so predictable and a bit cheezy. Bajia tries to address ALL the social ills of society in this one drama which doesn't work too well because it seems like some scenes and dialogues are added to give a lesson to the Paki people and system. There are a few glitches in the story like a 20 year old girl with a law degree, a girl raised by Americans speaking perfect urdu and staying a muslim. Adnan Jilani doesn't fit his role of a 27 year old young man in love with a girl who looks like his younger sister. Tanveer Jamal has done good acting but 26 episodes of a "ghissi pitti" story is a bit too much to watch for me. I must say Zara Akar (playing Rabia) performed well as a serious actress. The actress playing Michelle could not act. If you are a big Bajia fan then you can rent the 8 cassessettes when the drama is finally finished!; I rather stick to "Uroosa" and "Asaavari".
